CHALLENGES

A subsequent stage of the Montrose Bay foreshore revitalization, this pavilion presented a straightforward structural challenge to cantilever beyond the foreshore’s edge.

The construction system consists of precast and steel structural elements, with the cantilever achieved by utilising a well concealed series of precast concrete shear walls and steel tieback beams which is not obvious at first glance.

RESULT

Another good example of the contribution that imaginative structural systems can make towards fulfilling an architectural vision.
